A French cooking lesson in Boston, with Aurélie Bru (SK 2005)

join us to cook (and eat!) a two-course meal in a SKEMA Alumni ambiance

We’re inviting you to innovate with this new concept for cooking lessons run by Aurélie Bru (SK 2005), founder of French Chefette. The cooking lesson is on us: the SKEMA Alumni Association is picking up the tab!

You will learn how to make a bechamel sauce, how to glaze vegetables, and much more.

The menu we’ll be making together
Main course: cockerel with a Roquefort sauce and glazed carrots
Dessert: Alsatian apple tart

The cooking lesson will run for two hours and we will then stay to eat what we made. Get your taste buds ready and put on your chef’s hat!

Register online. Limited to 8 people.

A few words to present Aurélie:

After nearly 10 years in auditing (2 with KPMG and 7 with CapGemini), Aurélie changed careers when she and her husband moved to Boston in 2014. She followed her husband who had been transferred to the USA, but carried on her job as internal audit manager for 6 months remotely. She quickly noticed that Americans were lacking in knowledge when it comes to cooking and, more importantly, that they were really keen to learn! Though many are in the habit of ordering take-out or eating out, more and more of them are looking to learn to cook in order to eat a more balanced diet. They seem a bit behind, too, when it comes to organic food and buying local produce that is in season. Aurélie’s passion for cooking and her growing interest in organic food production led to her desire to open her own business and teach people this knowledge, which seems really straightforward for most French people. Knowing how to cook in order to entertain and cooking (almost) every night is part of our traditions in France, but in the US there is still a lot of work to be done in this area. Aurélie inherited her love of cooking from her grandmother, who owned a big restaurant in Pouilly-sur-Loire. Growing up, Aurélie spent a lot of time in her grand-mother and mother’s kitchens, and she has always loved to eat! For her ingredients, she loves to visit farmers’ markets and find small producers and farmers.

Her friends and the people around her had always encouraged her to start her own business because they found her cooking delicious. In the end, the catalyst was her new life in the USA and French Chefette was born in 2016.
