Our Hong Kong alumni set sail on a junk!

20 June 2019 Events

On Wednesday 12 June, 45 alumni in Hong Kong boarded a junk for a night cruise around Victoria Harbour. This first cruise event format brought the community even closer together over dinner. It was a great night of catch-ups, conversation and networking.

This get-together was also an opportunity to thank Jean-Baptiste Roy (SK 2008) and Julie Bourgeois (SK 2008), ambassadors of the Hong Kong Club for more than 10 years. They started the Hong Kong network of SKEMA alumni and have run the community with passion. This year they wish to pass the torch to three new ambassadors.

Éléonore Brun (SK 2012), Marjorie Limacher (SK 2013) and Clara Le Gall (SK 2012) are thrilled to be taking over and will be organising a new event after the summer break!

Our three new ambassadors have been living in Hong Kong for the last six years and are a good reflection of the diversity of profiles found in Hong Kong, with experience in a variety of sectors (cosmetics, art, food & beverage, lifestyle and ecology...). All three of them are already very involved in the life of the school and the SKEMA Alumni community in Hong Kong welcomed them with open arms. They want to maintain the sense of family created by Jean-Baptiste and Julie.

Eléonore has had several highly enriching experiences in the retail sector in Hong Kong and now works in the Beauty department at DFS, the global leader in luxury travel retail.

Marjorie is the founder of Bareaya, a reusable eco-friendly razor. This venture allows her to bring her values to the beauty business.

Clara, who previously worked as a Lifestyle buyer for Lane Crawford, has decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship with 88sheep.com, an e-shop devoted to sleep, due to launch in September.

Some feedback received from Hong Kong Club alumni:

Eloise Guettat (SK 2018)“A really great evening on a junk to say goodbye to our former ambassadors and get to know the new team. It was really well organised; the mood was cheerful and there was a great energy. Plus it was the kind of night where you could make both friends and professional contacts. That’s a great combination. Thanks a lot!”

Kevin Davy (SK 2013)“Being all together on a boat was really enjoyable. We got to meet some new people and it brought us all closer together. The passing of the torch was moving...”

A big thank you once again to Jean-Baptiste and Julie for their commitment over the last few years, and we wish Clara, Eléonore and Marjorie every success!
