Meet two new ambassadors

06 December 2019 Race

Welcome to the two new ambassadors, Sophie Bailly SK 2015 and Gildas Coldeboeuf SK 1993, who've just joined the SKEMA Alumni Singapore team, which already included Marianne Wlassewitch (SK 2007) and Christophe Altaie (SK 2004), the club’s founder (read an interview of him here)!

How long have you been in Singapore?
Gildas: I arrived in August 2016, so a little over three years now.
Sophie: A year and a half!

What do you do for work?
G: After taking up my studies again in 2016 & 2017 (Executive MBA at INSEAD), I worked in 2018 and now manage Manzalab in Asia. It’s a French business that creates innovative digital experiences. Its two core activities are training and product marketing: we push our experiences on smartphones, tablets, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
S: I am Sales Manager APAC for the French company Media6.

Have you had the opportunity to attend a few of the club’s events?
G: More and more. I do try to attend and I’m always happy to catch up with the regulars.
S: My first event was “SKEMA Trash Hero” in January 2019. We helped pick up litter as part of a clean-up day. I had a great time! (read the article here)

What have the club and the network brought you?
G: Good times and the chance to meet some great people. I especially enjoyed Bastille Day this year (read the article here), particularly because it was really fun and relaxed (although I do admit that pétanque is also a very enjoyable “ritual”) (see the photo album here).
S: Great people, good discussions, a SKEMA community made up of all different ages and backgrounds.

          Why did you become ambassadors?
G: When I was asked by Marianne (Wlassewitch SK 2007), one of the club’s ambassadors, I figured it was my turn to contribute. I love this quote by Abbé Pierre: “It’s when each of us waits for the other to start that nothing happens.”
S: First and foremost, because we have a great team in Singapore! Plus I had already been an ambassador during the year I studied in China and I’d loved it. And I’ve always loved organising events.

What kind of future do you want for the club? Any plans to share with us?
G: This is not about any specific event, but I’d like to get a bit more of the alumni pool in Singapore to attend, to create a real sense of community, in the positive sense. I think that a few ex-regulars are no longer active and it would be good to understand why so we can get them interested again and “return them to the fold”.
S: To attract even more Singapore-based Skemans!

If you had to name just one thing you love about life in Singapore, what would it be?
G:
Oddly enough, I’d say that it’s not Singapore as such, but rather the possibility of discovering the region. Singapore is a fantastic hub that is especially great if you want to travel, discover new countries, cultures, wonderful cuisines. I’ve been living abroad for more than 16 years and I think you have to seize the opportunities that present themselves to discover the world a bit and open yourself up to others.

S: I’d say the cultural, gastronomic and religious diversity.

See you in 2020 for the club’s next event! It will be an opportunity to meet the team, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere as always. SKEMA Alumni Singapore
