A new club in Abidjan, the start of a long adventure!

08 January 2020 Events

The Azalai Hotel in Abidjan, 14 November 2019: some twenty alumni in Côte d’Ivoire got together for the first after-work event of the 2019-2020 academic year, organised by our two ambassadors, Joseph Sie (SK 2011) and Otto Dieth Privat Gnepa (SK 2010).

For all these Skemans from the classes of 1995 to 2018 in Sophia, Lille and Paris, this was an opportunity to meet in person for a drink and share their different experiences.

Omo Egue Nestor (SK 1994) kicked off the evening by presenting his professional and educational background. Omo began his career as development manager for the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM), the regional stock exchange of the member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). He was later appointed Managing Director of BOA Capital Securities and then of NSIA Banque, where he worked primarily on IPOs, syndication, debt restructuring, as well as mergers and acquisitions. During his talk, Omo drew on his experience to give a few tips and some advice to those wanting to begin an entrepreneurial venture. He insisted on the importance of taking into account the start-up costs and the impact that a new business can have on one’s daily life and family. He then enthusiastically answered a few questions from the alumni present.

Aniouvi Gnassounou, admissions officer at SKEMA Business School and in Abidjan for a SKEMA round-table, continued the event by presenting her activities in West Africa and the school’s new campuses.

The evening ended with a cocktail reception during which attendees mingled, shared their experiences and discussed career prospects and integration in Abidjan.

All of the delighted and enthusiastic participants are unanimous: another event needs to be organised very soon!
