Yassmine Bellakdim (SK 2004), an 'Inspiring Girl' in Morocco

11 March 2020 Course

Yassmine Bellakhdim (SK 2004), head of a consulting firm and co-chair of the international foundation Inspiring Girls in Morocco, has decided to dedicate herself even further to her cause by launching the Moroccan branch of this foundation currently working in fourteen countries.
"Our mission is to connect young girls to female role models, to enable them to build up their self-confidence and consider all of the options available to them, without limitations or restrictions."

She was interviewed on 8 March 2020 by Le Matin.ma

"A few years ago I got the opportunity to manage a socio-cultural project aimed at children from disadvantaged families who had dropped out of school. Through music, we gave them a second chance to reintegrate into society by teaching them to become professional musicians. That project was a real catalyst for me. It showed me how gratifying it is to have a positive impact on the course of someone’s life and more particularly on a child’s life.

Additionally, I’ve always been convinced that, in spite of their courage and their great potential, Moroccan women don’t yet have the place they deserve in our country. The numbers speak for themselves: women represent 52% of the population, yet only 18% of them work. Our country needs its entire working-age population for its economic and social development.

I want Moroccan women to develop their full potential so they can be financially independent as well as defend their rights and contribute to the country’s economic and social development. My dream is for all young Moroccan girls and women to be educated enough to be able to make their own choices freely. I dream of a harmonious and inclusive Morocco where all citizens work together and respect diversity to ensure a better future for everyone."
