Happy Diwali! A wonderful celebration and a network in full colour

31 October 2019 Events

The first Indian alumni event to celebrate Diwali was held in Nice on 29 October 2019! The festival of lights is a major celebration in India, where in certain parts of the country it is even considered the Hindu New Year.

The alumni network celebrated what is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated festivals for most Indians, at the Tandoori Flame restaurant. 65 Indian students and alumni attended the event, with the men and women wearing sumptuous outfits in keeping with tradition. The network in full colour!

With dishes such as chicken vindaloo, lamb keema matar, and the famous halwa (a semolina cake), the menu was an invitation to travel. The evening was an opportunity for international immersion and a chance to mingle with the Indian students, all in a Bollywood atmosphere with Indian dancing. Judging by the feedback received, the Indian students were thrilled to be socialising with the alumni network and to introduce their classmates to Indian dances:

Deepjyot Bakshi “It's a great way to have a formal SKEMA family”
Alexander Bratchenko “The most amazing part of the event was learning more about the Indian culture, Indian holidays and traditions. It was a great opportunity to get to know my Indian friends better and to have a great time with them!”
Raya El Kadi “The SKEMA Alumni network is doing an amazing job of organizing events like this that represent the diversity of cultures in the school, all while creating a fun context for networking. I am not Indian but I loved joining the event and sharing in the culture with my Indian classmates”

Happy Diwali to our SKEMA Alumni India community!
