The Singapore Club in the colours of the French flag!

23 July 2019 Events

In keeping with their annual tradition, a group of some thirty SKEMA alumni got together in Singapore on Tuesday 23 July, this time at the friendly and welcoming Frenchie Wine Bar, which recently opened in the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown. The usual blue, white and red atmosphere was taken a step further this year, with participants being asked to don the colours of the French flag... and most played along! Good wines and traditional French dishes were served.

Throughout this convivial event, the participants – ranging from the classes of 1994 to 2018 – discussed topics that were as varied as their respective career paths since leaving school, including life in Singapore and how they were planning to spend their holidays!

During the speech he made, Christophe Altaie, ambassador and founder of the SKEMA Alumni Singapore Club, went over the history of the Club since its inception ten years ago when SKEMA Business School was born, and the many developments the school has put in place since them.

Christophe also announced the upcoming launch of SKEMA United, a cultural and sports challenge for a good cause which will unite all of SKEMA Business School during the month of October. The goal is for participants to cover as many kilometres as possible, to fund study grants for current and future students. Each kilometre will be matched with a donation of €1/km by the challenge’s main partner. Singapore’s SKEMA Alumni ambassadors challenged the Skemans present that night to start training the very next day in order to proudly represent Singapore in this great initiative for a worthy cause!

In closing, Christophe announced the departure of Rosana Ear, an ambassador of the Singapore Club for the last 4 years, who will be taking a sabbatical. The entire team of ambassadors thanked her warmly for her investment, her energy and her enthusiasm in running the network, and for being a pillar of SKEMA Alumni in Singapore.

Tristan Theurier is also stepping down to pursue new endeavours. A big thank you to Tristan also for his involvement in running the Club and we wish him the best of luck in his new adventures!

Two new ambassadors will be stepping into their shoes once the summer break is over and they are already organising a great, friendly event to introduce themselves and bring Singapore-based Skemans together.

We wish you a wonderful start to this new academic year!
