Conscious leadership and resilience by Robert Dilts

29 December 2019 Events

Organising innovation and preparing yourself for the future

The world is changing, new opportunities are available to us, our usual ways of functioning are being disrupted and all of this produces fear of loss and feelings of vulnerability. Survival strategies and forms of regression, confusion and/or conflict are triggered.
To face the challenges of this changing world and seize the opportunities that will present themselves in the future, individuals need to know how to tackle the different aspects of the crisis, transition or transformation. For this, they need to develop key skills in conscious leadership and resilience. But how?

What is leadership?
Leadership is about ensuring that each individual (including yourself) is willing to give their very best, rise to challenges, overcome hurdles and achieve critical objectives.

What are the characteristics of conscious leadership?
Conscious leadership involves acting from a state of centred presence, accessing multiple intelligences and living your highest values in service to a greater purpose and to the benefit of all stakeholders. Conscious leadership is therefore associated with the following qualities:

  • authenticity
  • emotional intelligence
  • intentionality
  • responsibility

Resilience is one of the most important success factors for entrepreneurs, teams and organisations. It is the ability to withstand or to recover quickly from crisis situations and to maintain a balanced state in the face of success or adversity. When individuals are put to the test, they sometimes rise to the challenge. But when that challenge seems too difficult, they can become overwhelmed and give up. This is where leadership skills are essential.

On 29 January, SKEMA Alumni will have the honour of once again welcoming Robert Dilts for an exceptional talk at Espace Saint-Martin in Paris.

During this talk, Robert will cover a number of key principles and skills that contribute to developing and implementing conscious leadership, such as:

  1. Formulating and communicating a clear and meaningful vision for the future
  2. Focusing on a higher purpose
  3. Influencing through inspiration
  4. Balancing self-interest and the common good, for the good of the leader and everyone else
  5. Respecting and integrating multiple perspectives
  6. Applying your own conscious leadership and reflecting on the lessons learned from the experience

Robert Dilts is world-renowned for his work as a leading developer, author, coach, trainer and consultant in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Working alongside Gilligan, he also developed the generative coaching process and founded the International Association for Generative Change (IAGC). Robert worked closely with the NLP co-founders John Grinder and Richard Bandler at the time of its creation. He has also studied personally with Milton H. Erickson, M.D., and Gregory Bateson. He spearheaded the application of NLP to education, creativity, health, leadership and belief systems, as well as the development of what we now call “third generation NLP”.
