Prestige Event in New York... Amazing!

18 April 2019 Events

Each year, SKEMA organises a series of Prestige Events for its alumni. While last year the scene was set in Dubai, this year it was in Manhattan on April 11 that over 120 SKEMA alumni, students and partners got together. The event was hosted on the premises of Pernod Ricard USA and conviviality was the watchword.

Besides the high-quality education it dispenses and its campuses located in Lille, Paris, Sophia-Antipolis, Raleigh, Suzhou and Belo Horizonte, another strong point of this business school is its alumni network.

The power of the SKEMA Alumni network

SKEMA has no fewer than 42,000 alumni, with 122 different nationalities, spread across 145 countries. It also has 90 ambassadors running local clubs, making it easier for SKEMA’s graduates and students in France and abroad to integrate and network.

Over 700 SKEMA alumni currently live and work in the United States, including 150 in New York.

Julien Hemard, SKEMA 93, Chief Commercial Officer at Pernod Ricard USA, opened his company’s doors that night to host the New York network. Although most of the attendees work in New York, a dozen or so alumni had made the trip specially from Miami or Raleigh.

Give and take

Fabienne Buon, SKEMA Alumni Network and Events Coordinator, told us with some amusement: “I’m based on the Sophia Antipolis campus, but I’m everywhere.” In charge of organising events and bringing the alumni together, she insists on the importance of the network: “The network’s power comes from its members, from the virtuous circle of ‘give & take’. Each member has an active role in the network and is an ambassador of the brand.”

Graduating is the first step; the challenge lies in entering the job market! That’s where the SKEMA Alumni network comes in. Camille Redureau (SK 2014), who now works for Citi Bike in New York, confirms it: “I got my first job in Dubai, thanks to the alumni network.”

Helping each other, recruiting, being recruited, networking, creating business opportunities, but also and above all being there for others... that’s what the SKEMA Alumni network is for.

This event was also the ideal opportunity to announce the opening of the next campuses (by 2020) in Paris and Africa.

Always with a smile, with fraternity and humour, the SKEMA Alumni Prestige Event in New York was a chance to socialize and there is little doubt that new connections were made, both for business and friendship.
