Bastille Day in Singapore with over 30 participants… hear what they had to say!

17 July 2018 Events

There was no more apt venue than the So France Bistro-Epicerie, inaugurated last March by the French Ambassador to Singapore, for hosting the Bastille Day event on the evening of 12 July 2018 (see photos here).

32 people took part in this year’s must-attend event, in an unmistakably ‘so French’ ambiance!

Besides its convivial atmosphere, mouth-watering charcuterie and cheese platters and delicious wine (independent wine producer Patrick attended and served up his Côte de Gascogne!), So France was an obvious choice because it is also a SKEMA story. Sophie Bailly (SK 2015), Marketing Manager at L’Agence de L’Alimentation de la Nouvelle Aquitaine, was heavily involved in the project.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this SKEMA Alumni event. The So France team and I are delighted to have welcomed you in our new concept-store opened recently in Singapore. As head of Marketing and Communications for So France and SKEMA Alumni, I would’ve loved to have shared this moment with you and to have had the chance to meet you all! See you soon, hopefully, for a new event at So France.”

During this final event of the 2017-2018 academic year, the team of SKEMA ambassadors spoke to the alumni and share their testimonials with you below:

Emma (Class of 1994): listen to Emma, Lorenzo and Adrien’s interviews!

“What’s really great is being exposed to the school spirit again; to see how the school has evolved and to share in everyone’s professional experiences. Learning about other people’s life paths and having something in common with them. Tonight is pretty special!”.

Lorenzo (Class of 2016)

“Its really great to be here tonight; it’s my first time. I arrived in Singapore two years ago but hadn’t had a chance yet to cross paths with the alumni. It’s great! I’m thinking about settling here long term and overall I’m finding that there is a nice sense of solidarity in the SKEMA network.”

Marion (Class of 2008), ex-ambassador

“I was one of the founding ambassadors of SKEMA Alumni Singapore in 2009. I come here to have a good time, to meet new people, for the conviviality, to learn new things and see some familiar faces (…) The years are flying by and that’s partly thanks to SKEMA.”

Florent (Class of 2008)

“I’ve been in Singapore for the last 7 years and I love this group of SKEMA alumni, which is quite close-knit. It’s nice to see people who have been loyal for years. Tonight, I got to meet someone who is starting a business in blockchain, a field I’m interested in on a professional level. We got to combine business with pleasure.”

Clément (Class of 2006): interview with Clément and Quentin

“I’ve come here looking for wine ;), new friends and maybe a job! It’s a very active community that allows you to organise some first coffee dates very quickly and build up a network of contacts fast. SKEMA gives you a foot in the door.  It’s great to meet people from SKEMA all along your career path.”

Quentin (Class of 2014)

“I come for the conviviality and the organisation, as both are always top-notch! I always learn some great tips! Always have a good time. We’ve all have something in common, so it’s easier to break the ice; it feels safe”

Séverine (Class of 2012)

“In addition to the network, with which I’m in contact about my new business project in Singapore among other things, it’s very convivial. We get together and end up knowing each other quite well after 5 years. (…) My favourite SKEMA event so far in Singapore was the dragon boat racing! It was really the highlight. It was the perfect occasion to have fun with other SKEMA alumni and discover this group activity.”

Jessé (Class of 2016)

“The atmosphere here in the SKEMA network is really solid and it’s nice to see people from the same school in the same country and so far from France (…) It’s like a little family on the other side of the world! The goal is also to build stronger connections and expand the network.”

Aimée (Class of 2015)

“I really appreciated being able to network with the SKEMA alumni here. They are generally very friendly. The events are always conducive to interaction and it is really useful to have ‘old-timers’ around to give you their insights and tips, particularly when it comes to job hunting.”

We wish you a fantastic summer! See you after the break 😊
