Victor Genin (SKEMA 2003), VP Sustainable Performance at Acco

28 June 2024 Course

Although ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) is still in its infancy, the acronym, which echoes the urgency of climate change, continues to grow in popularity and attract emulators. Like Victor Genin (SKEMA 2003), VP Sustainable Performance at Accor. Portrait of a key player in ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) and architect of the metamorphosis, taken from the first issue of GLIMPSE magazine.

Changing habits

"6 months ago, no one was doing ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) performance, today I have a team of three people who read the meters every day. The future of hospitality must be responsible and respectful, with sustainable development at its core. Accor is striving to build a contributive model, which means giving back more than we take."

A positive approach

"Under the impetus of Brune Poirson, Director of Sustainable Development and member of the Group Executive Committee, Accor has committed to Net Zero SBTi by 2050, with an initial 46% reduction in its emissions by 2030, and has carried out its first bond issue indexed to its sustainable development objectives for an amount of 700 million euros. ESG criteria play an important role in the variable remuneration of Accor's managers and executives, accounting for up to 15% for key positions."

A partner in cooperation

"The Purchasing teams, led by Caroline Tissot, in partnership with Other leaders in the hotel industry, including Hilton, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, and Radisson Hotel Group, have announced the co-founding of the "Hospitality Alliance for Responsible Procurement" (HARP). This alliance is a continuation of Accor's commitment to sustainable purchasing, and aims to help reduce the Group's carbon emissions."

A fresh look

"The first sentence we are taught when we do ESG is that there are no companies that win in a world that loses. That resonates with me at every moment. Tomorrow, in a world that's burning, the only companies left will be those that are oriented towards a contributive model. That's part of the approach we want to add to our value proposition."
