Marine and Thibault Juliard-Hutinel (SKEMA 2012), a story of shared commitment
They met at SKEMA and have since built a life together, a family, and a shared sense of purpose. Marine and Thibault Juliard-Hutinel embody this new generation of alumni for whom success goes hand in hand with solidarity and giving back.
Their meeting was like something straight out of a campus romance novel. It happened in Lille, during a high-energy student association campaign. ‘After a few intense weeks, we were elected to the students’ union. That's how it all began,’ recalls Thibault.
The team spirit, the adrenalin rush of the events, and the drive to make things happen on campus have stayed with them ever since.
Marine's memories are just as vivid: ‘After two years of preparatory classes, I needed to take a step back, and SKEMA gave me that space for freedom and connection. I made lifelong friends there.’
For Thibault, his global outlook took shape through an Erasmus year in Slovenia. Marine, meanwhile, completed her studies in New York after a placement year split between Brussels and Paris. They followed two parallel paths, guided by the same curiosity and a shared desire to discover the world.
Complementary career paths
After graduating, their careers took different directions but were driven by the same high standards. Thibault started out at Deloitte before joining the family business, where he has been Administrative and Financial Director for the past ten years. As for Marine, she has held positions in both the public and private sectors: the French Ministry of Finance in New York, the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF), consulting, and five years at Factset. She is now Senior Manager, Government Relations and Regulatory Strategy at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). Together, they form a complementary duo, united by the belief that professional success only has meaning when it also serves the common good.
The choice to act
Their involvement in the SKEMA Alumni for Good initiative follows naturally from this conviction. ‘What impressed me most was hearing about the students’ planned ocean crossing to Raleigh,’ says Thibault. ‘Their courage, their daring... I would have loved to have taken part in an adventure like that!’
‘Supporting these young people means giving them the means to make their dreams a reality.’
Marine adds: ‘Tuition fees can be a real financial strain. If we can help, even in a small way, to make a student’s journey a little easier and less stressful, then we feel we should. It’s also a way for us to continue supporting the school.’
Memories and convictions
When asked what they are most proud of, they say, without hesitation, their students’ union year. ‘We worked on projects and events together that really shaped our SKEMA years,’ says Thibault. Marine also remembers a phrase she heard at the start of the school year: ‘We were told that 80% of students would meet their spouse at SKEMA... and I rolled my eyes. Turns out they were right!’
These stories aside, their conviction is clear:
‘SKEMA’s mission today is to foster curiosity, openness and commitment among students, and to prepare them for a constantly changing world.’
Staying committed
Marine and Thibault regularly take part in charitable initiatives such as the Fondation des Femmes, the Institut Curie’s Course des Lumières, and the La Nuit des Relais fun run. ‘Commitment is a mindset,’ they remind us.
Their message to the community is clear: ‘Stay connected. Take an interest in current students and alumni. There are many initiatives that deserve attention: Luc-Olivier Pieret (SKEMA 2014) with Ramdam Social, Marine Issautier (SKEMA 2015) with Fôme, Camille Ruffin (SKEMA 2015) with Apimoe, Fanny Havas (SKEMA 2013) with Capitaine Coco... each one an inspiring example of how everyone has something to contribute.’
Giving back, together
Marine and Thibault speak with openness and sincerity. Their shared commitment reflects a deep conviction that success finds its fullest meaning when it is shared. Through their donation, they remind us that even a small gesture can change a student’s path, and that together, the school’s alumni have the power to open up new horizons for future generations.
