Aurore Veyrier (SKEMA 2011), Ambassador of the Montreal Chapter
Could you tell us a little about your journey since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador of the SKEMA Alumni Montreal Chapter?
After graduating from SKEMA in 2011, I got the opportunity to spend a year on an exchange programme in South Korea. That experience marked the beginning of my international career. I started out working in digital marketing for two luxury resorts in the Maldives, before being transferred to Singapore within the same chain.
In 2016, I entered the world of online travel agencies (OTAs) by accepting a position with the Expedia Group in Singapore, as Insights Manager. Thanks to the internal mobility opportunities, I got the chance to move to Toronto, Canada, before settling in Montreal.
Joining the Toronto chapter was a priority as soon as I arrived in Canada: it was an ideal way to meet new people and make connections in a completely new environment. This sense of belonging motivated me to continue my involvement, as an ambassador in Montreal.
As ambassador, how do you plan to bring energy and life to the Montreal chapter? Can you share any ideas for initiatives or for events you’d like to run?
We recently held three very successful events, which just goes to show that our Montreal alumni are very keen to get together! My ambition is to organise regular quarterly events to keep up this great momentum and strengthen the bonds within our community.
To make sure we’re planning events that meet our alumni’s expectations, we ran a survey last May. Here is what we found out:
- The alumni enjoy getting together and they expressed the need to feel a sense of belonging through SKEMA.
- To keep the momentum going, they want the date of the next get-together to be announced at each event.
- The preferred format is drinks and finger food, but original activities like pétanque, bowling or expert panels are also popular choices.
- They are willing to contribute financially for quality events, with a price range of $10 to $30 per person.
With this in mind, we plan to organise a variety of fun and enriching events, some with a professional focus, and activities that encourage discussion and discovery.
What message would you like to send to our alumni to encourage them to join and become actively involved in the SKEMA Alumni Montreal Chapter?
SKEMA’s Montreal chapter needs your energy and ideas! We're looking for volunteers to help think of new activities to organise, identify inspiring speakers for our events, or even just suggest some great places to meet.
The atmosphere at our meetups can always be improved, and your contributions are essential to making each event a memorable experience.
Join us to expand your network, share your experiences and make strong connections with alumni who, like you, want to get the most out of this unique community. Together, we can grow this chapter and increase SKEMA's influence in Montreal!
