Karl Delacroix (SKEMA 2015), Ambassador of the Montreal chapter
Could you briefly tell us about your career since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador for the SKEMA Alumni Montreal chapter?
I started my career in key account auditing in Paris with Mazars, where I focused mainly on the real estate and manufacturing sectors. I then moved on to EY, first in Nice and Monaco for a further three years, before leaving for Montreal. I had the opportunity to work for a year at EY-Parthenon in strategy consulting, and have just accepted a role as Head of Finance in a healthcare company.
Since my arrival in Montreal, I've been able to see the power of the SKEMA network. Being in a foreign country and already having a community in place is a real asset: it simplifies many steps and opens up opportunities. It was this strength of the network that motivated me to become an ambassador here.
How do you plan to energize and animate the Montreal chapter as its ambassador? Can you share a few ideas for events or initiatives you'd like to put in place?
To energize the Montreal chapter, I'd like to implement several initiatives:
- Organize themed events with guest speakers, who can give short presentations and share their expertise.
- Open up some of our events to graduates who are in Montreal for an academic exchange and who will soon be looking for a job. These future graduates are the alumni of tomorrow and can bring a great dynamic to the community.
- Communicate more frequently on the professional and personal developments of our members, for example with a newsletter, to strengthen interest and cohesion within our network.
What message would you like to convey to alumni to encourage them to join and get actively involved in the SKEMA Alumni Montreal chapter?
The network of SKEMA graduates in Montreal is strong, with over 400 alumni. It's a great opportunity to create strong ties and support each other moving forward. The events may seem intimidating at first, but the atmosphere quickly becomes convivial, creating ideal conditions for expanding one's network.
SKEMA graduates are often integrated into their own networks (be they professional fields, chambers of commerce, seniority levels or business sectors), which multiplies exchanges and builds solid professional bridges.
