Romain Frocione (SKEMA 2022), Ambassador of the Lyon Chapter

Could you tell us a little about your journey since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador of the SKEMA Alumni Lyon Chapter?

After graduating from the Grande École programme in 2022 with a specialisation in digital marketing (MSc), I wanted to start my career in Paris in a sales role, in a sector that I’m passionate about: event planning. For over a year, I worked as a sales manager for a start-up specialising in booking bands. I learnt a lot from this very demanding position, which taught me valuable negotiation and sales skills. I then decided to return to my roots in Lyon. I briefly explored the world of consulting before rediscovering my passion for event planning. For the last few months, I've been working as Corporate Market Lead at GL Events, in the heart of the Lyon Convention Centre.

I wanted to become an ambassador for the Lyon chapter because I wanted to meet and chat with the local alumni, all of whom have rich and varied careers. We are a group of over 1,200 alumni who have chosen to settle in this very dynamic region, where certain sectors, such as pharmaceuticals and industry, are booming. I felt it was important to help bring these professionals together and support them, particularly on a professional level. In short, I'm delighted to be part of this adventure!

As ambassador, how do you plan to bring energy and life to the Lyon chapter? Can you share any ideas for initiatives or for events you’d like to run?

For me, the most important thing is to propose events and themes that bring real added value to the alumni. The way we communicate also plays a key role. I'm convinced that diversifying our communication channels is essential, and I’m working on this with my fellow ambassadors, Philippe and Catherine. We're working together to move in this direction and offer a more rewarding networking experience.

What message would you like to send to our alumni to encourage them to join and become actively involved in the SKEMA Alumni Lyon Chapter?

Do it! We're lucky to have more than 1,200 alumni in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with a wide variety of profiles. Everyone can help out, as their schedule allows! We divide up tasks according to our strengths, interests and preferences, so don't hesitate to come and add your contribution!
