The Musée des Arts Décoratifs hosts the exhibition "Margiela, les années Hermès" conceived and presented in 2017 by the MoMu (Antwerp Fashion Museum) in collaboration with Martin Margiela. This original project highlights the surprising and fruitful collaboration between Hermès and the Belgian designer on prêt-à-porter creations for women from 1997 to 2003, i.e. 12 collections.

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors discover two distinct styles, initiating a fascinating dialogue between the garments Margiela created for Hermès and those he designed for his own House.

An avant-garde silhouette based on deconstruction, oversize/undersize volumes, recycling and the recovery of materials are the hallmarks of his own creations under his eponymous label. At Hermès, he introduces a purity of cut and color, drawing on the exceptional materials of the Parisian saddler and incorporating numerous innovations. Combined with a "comfort" style that is timeless, sensual and authentic, he redefined the vision of the Hermès woman.

The exhibition unfolds in a succession of thematic sequences of over 100 silhouettes, photographs and videos, following a path where the orange of Hermès and the white of Maison Martin Margiela meet.
