Aurélie Vermesse (SKEMA 1986) has been elected as the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Grand Lille, one of the seven that make up the regional landscape of Hauts-de-France. She is a graduate of the Grande Ecole programme. She is the first woman elected to the presidency.

The belfry of the Lille Chamber of Commerce has a new tenant. Aurélie Vermesse was elected by Simon Fetet, secretary general of the Prefecture of Nord and Sub-Prefect of Lille, on 22 November.

This company director from Lille graduated from SKEMA in 1986. “I was in the Grande Ecole programme; at the time there was only one! There were 120 students,” she recalls. Aurélie is a well-known figure in the metropolitan economic fabric. She is the founder of the Clarance Hotel, a member of Relais & Châteaux, whose impeccable reputation is well established. Nestled in an 18th century mansion, her restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star.

Memories of her time at SKEMA

Today, the new president of the CCI Grand Lille says that she keeps in regular contact with her fellow graduates. “I still see many of them, of course! At the time, I was in the AIESEC association, which welcomed foreign students in particular. I still have a lot of memories,” she says, with a smile on her face.

Developing the attractiveness of the territory

At the beginning of her mandate, Aurélie has a very precise idea of what she wants to do for the Lille region. “I want to develop the attractiveness of the region, both in the tourism and economy fields. I want us to be able to welcome highly-qualified personnel." The CCI offers local services to the companies present on its territory. To this end, it has branches in Douai, Hazebrouck and Saint-Omer.
