Nicolas Bousquet, student and co-founder of JobMap, tells us a bit about himself and his app!

09 November 2016 Course

Hi, Nicolas! How did you come to join SKEMA (and the association’s managing committee!)?

My name is Nicolas Bousquet; I am a 25-year-old student/entrepreneur in SKEMA’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Master’s programme on the Sophia campus, and I am also the co-founder of JobMap.

After finishing high school and obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in International Management at TBS (in France and in Helsinki), I took a break from studies to travel. I then joined SKEMA for its openness to the rest of the world and for its entrepreneurial programme, which is what I’m doing right now.

During my travels I was lucky enough to settle for a time in Montreal, where I did an internship in the field of smart cities. That is where I met my current business partner, with whom I founded JobMap. Our project is growing fast. It has just received the Jury’s Choice Award (Grand Prix du Jury) in the Défi Startup 7 challenge in Montreal, and I have decided to really commit to its development. I’ve been on this great adventure for 6 months now alongside a multicultural team of more than 20 people based in Europe and North America.

So what is JobMap?

The app was created less than a year ago in Montreal. Our ambition is to create a real revolution in the field of recruitment thanks to a comprehensive service, available on both computers and smartphones, that uses geographical positioning to very easily connect companies or associations with people seeking jobs, internships or volunteer work.

Our business model is the complete opposite to anything currently being done, because first and foremost we want this service to be affordable to all types of businesses, with a positioning that is very similar to what Free did in France in the telecommunications sector.  We’ve already got some money coming in from some major international corporations.

Because people are increasingly connected, we are convinced that the future of recruitment will be largely digital-based and extremely simplified. The same goes for the world of associations, which is often very much linked to the business world and is cruelly lacking in visibility around the world.

Today, a large number of companies from all business sectors have already signed up to JobMap: Air Canada, Randstad, Group Investors, the Couche Tard network, Allstate Insurance, Lumen-Sonepar, A&W, Motorola, Bell, BNC, Desjardins Bank, Provigo, SAQ, the University of Montreal and hundreds of others.

My goal is to develop the French market as quickly as possible and then the European market in the medium term.

How can the SKEMA network help you achieve this?

SKEMA has been very supportive since I joined the school. The welcome I got from the SKEMA Alumni association and the school’s administration was a great surprise for me. Through SKEMA’s incredibly vast alumni network, I would like to make multiple connections in order to grow JobMap, talk, and recruit people who could work with us to develop JobMap.
