Conference: Burn-out: recognizing it. For yourself, your family and your colleagues. (CareeR Conference NEOMA Alumni)

Presentation

Burnout, or professional exhaustion syndrome, is a turbulent area, as painful for the person suffering it as it is complex for the company to manage.

In a societal context of increasing corporate well-being, quality of life at work (QWL) and the proliferation of campaigns to prevent psychosocial risks (PSR), burnout remains a taboo subject in the workplace.

Yet its consequences for both the individual and the company are far-reaching: suffering on the one hand, and the loss of talented, committed employees on the other.

Difficult to spot, burnout is accompanied by "characteristic" signals and symptoms that are unmistakable. It is preceded by a period of overheating, known as "burn-in", during which behavior changes.

Recognizing these "early warning" signs enables all stakeholders to take action:

- The person concerned, to slow down, or even stop in time, by modifying what needs to be modified, in particular his or her relationship with work, the way he or she works, or communication with his or her teams;

- To those around you, whether personal or professional, to sound the alarm by becoming a whistle-blower;

- The company, to support its employees at every stage of the process.

A cocktail reception will be served at the end of the conference to allow discussion on the subject.
