Chloe Forget (SKEMA 2019), Project Manager for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Chloe Forget (SKEMA 2019) is a graduate of the Grande Ecole programme and the MSc Project and Programme Management & Business Development at SKEMA Business School. She currently works as a Project Management Officer (PMO) Event Delivery within the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee.
Chloe, can you tell us about your studies at SKEMA Business School?
I joined SKEMA Business School after attending a preparatory school in Rouen. For the first semester of my Master 1 year, I attended the Raleigh campus; for the second semester, the Belo Horizonte campus. I was pleasantly surprised by the latitude offered at SKEMA: as a student, we have the possibility of choosing our own academic path. After my experience studying abroad, I decided to specialise for my M2 year and attend the Grand Paris campus. That is when I started the MSc Project and Programme Management & Business Development programme. I appreciated the great support I received during my studies, the presence of first-rate professors, and the possibility of completing all the professional certifications required for accessing employment.
How did your educational and professional background prepare you to excel in an international project environment?
After completing five years of study at a management school, of which two were spent abroad, I opted to specialise in project management via this MSc. My career objective at the time was to become a project manager in the sports and arts sectors. I had already gained experience in project management in arts and tourism through a first experience that I loved. Then I decided to hone my skills and step out of my comfort zone.
I moved into the industrial sector as a project engineer with MI-GSO (world leader in project, programme, portfolio and change management consulting, Ed.). This position enabled me to share my expertise in project management while benefiting from the advice of experienced project managers. Also, the international nature of my project at the time gave me the opportunity to use my language skills in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and to work with people from different backgrounds.
Working for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Committee, can you describe your main responsibilities and duties in terms of coordinating and delivering the competition venues?
Since May 2022, I've been working for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Committee and more specifically the Event Venue Management department, which is in charge of coordinating and delivering the competition venues for the “Couronne” cluster (the competition venues on the outskirts of Paris, Ed.), which includes the Roland-Garros, Parc des Princes, La Défense Arena and Paris Bercy venues.
My duties are quite varied. First of all, I plan the site deliveries by working closely with all the stakeholders involved. On top of this, I manage various tools and run meetings with the different collaborators to ensure a smooth and efficient coordination of deliveries. I'm also responsible for keeping track of all documentation and contracts between the various parties, which is crucial to the successful delivery of the competition sites. Finally, working with the stakeholders, I analyse and monitor the risks associated with each competition venue. I assess the situation, analyse the risks, and offer solutions which the cluster manager is in charge of approving.
