Georges Kouame (SKEMA 2004), Club Métier Finance Ambassador

Could you briefly tell us about your career since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador for the Club Métier Finance?

As soon as I graduated from SKEMA, I obtained the DESCF diploma and was able to complete the 3-year internship required to become a Certified Public Accountant. After starting out as a project manager in a finance department, I worked for several years in an auditing and consulting firm. My work involved assisting clients in the banking and insurance sectors with the preparation of consolidated financial statements. Part of my activity involved working on company valuations. For over 10 years, I have been working in the finance department of a banking group, and was Regional Finance Director for 6 years. With all this experience behind me, and with an eye on the changes that are taking place in the world of finance, I naturally decided to become an ambassador for the SKEMA Alumni Finance Club.

How do you plan to energize and enliven the Club Métier Finance of which you are the ambassador? Could you share a few ideas for events or initiatives you'd like to put in place?

I'd like to help make the Finance Club a forum for exchanging and sharing ideas on the major issues emerging in Finance in the broadest sense of the term, and more particularly in accounting (international standards), regulatory and prudential reporting, the sectoral obligations incumbent on companies, new technologies at the service of Finance...

As our business is constantly evolving in an economic world that is itself in upheaval, Club Finance is for me a privileged channel for training, informing and transforming our professional approach to subjects. We'll be organizing themed cafés and expert talks on topical issues, via posts and mailings. We can also organize feedback on operations without breaking business secrecy.

What message would you like to pass on to alumni to encourage them to join and become actively involved in Club Finance?

All this is only possible if each and every member actively participates in the various activities, because the diversity of our experiences will enrich us all. Come and feed your thoughts on your sector, join the club!
