Interview

Johan Mallet (SKEMA 2009), Ambassador of the Project Management business club

21 November 2024 Interview

Could you briefly tell us about your career since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador for the SKEMA Alumni Project Management business club?

Since 2009, I have been working as an independent consultant specializing in project and program management. My primary role is to support companies undergoing transformations by providing them with the tools and methodologies needed to secure their high-stakes projects.

In parallel, I have been teaching as a visiting lecturer at SKEMA’s Lille and Paris campuses. These teaching experiences allow me to share my expertise with students while staying up-to-date with emerging trends and practices in project management.

Becoming an ambassador for the SKEMA Alumni Project Management business club was a natural step for me. It enables me to actively contribute to the SKEMA Alumni network’s vibrancy by connecting with young graduates and seasoned professionals in my field. This role also offers an excellent opportunity to expand my own network, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals who are passionate about project management.

How do you plan to energize and animate the Project Management business club as its ambassador? Can you share some ideas for events or initiatives you'd like to put in place?

For several years, I have been co-hosting events in the Lille region focusing on project management. These initiatives have helped create a committed community eager to explore current challenges in the field.

Looking ahead to 2024-2025, several events and initiatives are being planned or conceptualized:

  • Mega Projects: Exploring the specific challenges and dynamics of managing large-scale projects, such as infrastructure, IT, or global transformation programs.
  • Careers in Project Management: Highlighting the variety of roles and employment types available in the field, from freelance and consultancy to in-house project management roles.
  • Experience Sharing: Inviting SKEMA alumni and industry experts to share their journeys and successes in managing complex projects.
  • Workshops on Key Topics: Hosting interactive sessions on methodologies (like Agile, Prince2, or PMI frameworks) and critical areas like stakeholder management or risk mitigation.

These initiatives aim to create valuable and engaging moments for participants, whether they are students, recent graduates, or experienced professionals. By blending in-person and online formats, we hope to make the club's activities accessible and impactful for a broader audience.

What message would you like to convey to our alumni to encourage them to join and become actively involved in the SKEMA Alumni Project Management business club?

The SKEMA Alumni Project Management business club is a unique opportunity for alumni to step back from their daily routines and gain fresh perspectives. By participating in the club’s events, you can:

  • Connect with passionate professionals, expand your network, and discover innovative practices.
  • Access enriching content that could transform how you approach your work or manage your projects.
  • Share your own experiences to inspire and guide other members of the SKEMA community.

Project management is an ever-evolving discipline. Joining this club is not just about participating in a shared journey but also about actively contributing to building a strong, supportive community striving for excellence. Come, share, learn, and inspire others!
