Interview

Pierre-Edouard Pouteau (SKEMA 2010), Ambassador of the SKEMA Alumni Finance Club

21 November 2024 Interview

Could you tell us a little about your journey since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador of the SKEMA Alumni Finance Club?

Since graduating from SKEMA, I’ve been working in finance, with a particular interest in internal control, auditing and IPOs. My career started thanks to the solid grounding I acquired in the Master’s in Audit, Accounting & Information Systems and Master CCA (Accounting, Control and Auditing) programmes. This training led me to my current position at EY France, where I head up the internal control consulting service within the Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) department in France.

What motivated me to become a Finance Club ambassador was above all my desire to give something back to the SKEMA community, which has been a real game changer for my professional development. I want to use my experience and knowledge to strengthen the network of alumni and students, by facilitating knowledge sharing and professional development in the finance sector.

As ambassador, how do you plan to bring energy and life to the Finance Club? Can you share any ideas for initiatives or for events you’d like to run?

To bring energy and life to the Finance Club, I propose a series of events and initiatives designed to meet the different needs of our members. Here are some ideas:

  1. Regular webinars and workshops: organise online sessions with finance experts to discuss industry trends, share best practice and provide ongoing training.
  2. Networking events: hold in-person or virtual events to foster connections between alumni and students, and encourage collaboration and mentoring.
  3. Mentoring programme: participate in the existing programme to support students and recent graduates in their career development.
  4. Interactive discussion forums: create or improve online platforms where members can chat, share ideas and find advice on finance-related topics.
  5. Internship and job opportunities: help students and alumni identify career opportunities in the finance sector.
  6. Hackathons: eventually organise a hackathon-style event to stimulate innovation and collective emulation in a fun, collaborative environment.

What message would you like to send to our alumni to encourage them to join and become actively involved in the SKEMA Alumni Finance Club?

My fellow alumni and students, I urge you to join the Finance Club and get actively involved. This network is about so much more than just professional connections: it’s a real community where we can share our knowledge, support each other and stay at the forefront of an ever-evolving sector.

By getting involved in the club, you’ll gain access to a wealth of resources, expand your professional network and help shape the future of finance. Together, we can create a dynamic and supportive environment that benefits not only our individual careers, but the entire SKEMA family. Let’s collaborate, innovate and lead in finance!
