Poonam Gupta (SKEMA 2017), Ambassador of the Finance Club
Could you tell us a little about your journey since graduating from SKEMA Business School and what motivated you to become an ambassador of the SKEMA Alumni Finance Club?
Since graduating from SKEMA, I've focused my career on financial consolidation. I started at the Albea Group, an international company specialising in packaging for the beauty industry. I gained valuable experience there in reporting and financial analysis. I then worked for Schneider Electric and Atos, two large companies where I continued to hone my skills with a focus on tax reporting. I’m currently working for the Fives Group, where I’m an integral part of a team of two consolidators responsible for the entire group.
I became a Finance Club ambassador because I’m passionate about connecting with others in the finance community, and also about the idea of giving back to the environment that nurtured my growth. I’m a firm believer in the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing, and I’m excited to help promote these values among students and professionals.
As ambassador, how do you plan to bring energy and life to the Finance Club? Can you share any ideas for initiatives or for events you’d like to run?
As an ambassador for the Finance Club, I plan to enliven the community by organising talks by industry experts, running workshops on topics like international financial reporting standards, consolidation etc., and holding networking events where club members can meet and connect.
I also intend to work with SKEMA’s existing Mentoring programme to match members with experienced professionals. In addition to this, running webinars on relevant topics will allow us to reach a wider audience and facilitate enriching discussions. The aim, with these initiatives, is to encourage collaboration, learning, and growth within the club.
What message would you like to send to our alumni to encourage them to join and become actively involved in the SKEMA Alumni Finance Club?
I invite you to join and actively participate in the Finance Club, for the invaluable networking opportunities it offers. Your membership will allow you to keep up with industry trends and share your experience and knowledge, which can have a significant impact on current students.
By attending events, mentoring, or by leading workshops, you will help to create a vibrant community that encourages innovation and collaboration in finance. Your commitment can make a real difference, enriching both your own career and the future of tomorrow's leaders. Together, let’s seize this opportunity to support the development of future finance talent.
